This imageless post is my last from Hong Kong.
I'm tearing through the 38GB of camera memory I have with me so left my camera at the hostel today. I thought doing that would help me get back on track for 200 pictures per location.
Don't I sound smart? Actually, that's not true at all. I wanted to check out the outdoor pool in Kowloon park and didn't want my camera to get pinched.
The pool didn't have the effect I'd hoped for. I wanted some sun to get rid of this horrible red-and-white muscle-vest-shaped tan, but for the first time in my travels so far, it was cold and miserable. Non-stop rain. Still, "c'est la vie" as they say in England, or "that's life" as they say in France.
I should point out that the pool is free. It's a really nice pool, not at all a rectangular hole in the ground. And the changing rooms are good with showers and coin-return lockers, as you'd expect in non-free pools. I was told in broken English that the fact it's free is something to do with the Olympics. After all, located nearby is a giant clock counting down to August 8th. I expect to see a similar clock in Tienanmen Square (because I read so on the BBC News website).
The rest of today, as you'd expect, was spent packing. There was a slight miscommunication regarding laundry; net result: I have no clean clothes at all. I don't much care, after all, I'm a dirty filthy backpacker with a beard and dreads. It's the people sitting next to me on the plane who I feel sorry for. Unless they chew gum in my ear, that is, in which case they're arseholes.
Tomorrow is Bangkok...
