Great Wall of China

10k might not seem much but it's a long way when you're hiking along the Great Wall of China. This thing is a bitch! It didn't help that I had to be on the tour bus at 6:40am after all those beers last night.

The wall is amazing.

Wait, did I really need to say that? It's 4000 miles long and 7000 years old! Of course it's amazing!

The view is as fantastic as it looks here but the climb (that's pretty much all it was) was more difficult than you'd think. The intense China summer heat didn't help either. Thank goodness for those Mongolian ladies selling iced water, and occasionally bath water -- at least that's what it sounded like. I didn't bother with their cocker (surely, Coke?) or teasers (surely, T-shirts?), though.

I walked/hiked/climbed with Bec, a 22-year-old student from Perth, Australia. I also learnt lots about vetinary science along the way. Go me!

Did you steal a bit? I wish I had!

You seem to have cheered up a bit now you've got some female company, sure it's just coincidence.

Chris was back at work today, I must admit I did chuckle.

Yep, I got some of the wall! You can always go back to get some yourself - there's plenty to go round.

There's a good discussion on the wall's Wikipedia article on whether it can actually be seen from space. I don't remember exactly but think the article claimed it was like seeing a hair from a mile away, or something.

You could accompany BD on his way back to collect a stone.
